German minister of defense deMaziere wants a Veterans day introduced while in US

Public memory for German soldiers, award of medals for risking the life abroad? Secretary of Defense Thomas de Maizière wants " Veterans day" introduced. The suggestion raises the question about our social adjustment. The answer to it should be clear.

Secretary of Defense Thomas de Maizière is in the US, he meets his counterpart in Washington, Leon Panetta. Ex-soldiers have a weighty voice there in the society - alone for their number. 2.3 million US veterans returned home from 2001 till 11 from the conflicts to Iraq and Afghanistan . De Maizière is now introducing: Germany should found an anniversary for soldiers with combat missions. But the minister should come clean to himself which function this will get, which changes can be released into society.

The German Federal Armed Forces execute at present the largest change of their history. Its becoming an army of mercenaries. It's extracted from the center of society , what was enforced before through compulsory military service-DRAFT. Rightfully only humans travel to wars like in Afghanistan, who really want to do this. Now the German Federal Armed Forces are dependent on applicants, it can no longer rely on DRAFTIES counting millions. It needs fresh blood, in the true sense of the word. Such blood is wasted in exactly such conflicts implying use of arms.
