Bunga Bunga and corruption-Berlusconi trials start out
Berlusconi for tax evasion in front of court
dapd - vor 14 Min.Four trials start out against Berlusconi in the coming week. Berlusconi wanted to stop three of them with a tailor-made immunity law. It was too tailor made to be credible (same law for all) and the immunity got killed by Italys highest court. The fourth process is about the encounters with minor Ruby.
A court marathon has just started out for the politically injured Italian prime Berlusconi. Berlusconi has to face reinstantation or simply new trials. It's about tax evasion, corruption, abuse of office, and sex with minors. Monday the first trial started out for tax evasion of his company mediaset. The peak will be the speed trial (that is a mode designed by Berlusconi fascist... of cuz sth where the accused has less rights and so on) for sex with a minor (Berlusconi's chances to survive it are practically zero) on the 6th of april.

Ireland
DUBLIN (AP) - The opposition Fine Gael party appears poised to lead Ireland's next government as an exit poll released Saturday showed the party far ahead, while the long-dominant Fianna Fail party seemed headed for its worst result ever.
The poll was released an hour before counting of ballots began at centers around the country.
The Millward Brown Lansdowne exit poll for national broadcaster RTE showed Fine Gael with 36.1 percent of the first-preference votes in Friday's balloting, a figure which would fall short of giving the party a majority of seats in the Dail, the lower house of parliament.
Fianna Fail, which had won the most seats in every previous election, had 15.1 percent support. In elections going back to 1932, when the party led a government for the first time, it had never done worse than 39 percent.
The Labour Party, Fine Gael's likely coalition partner, had 20.5 percent, which would be its best performance ever.
"The political landscape of Ireland is completely and utterly redrawn," said Roger Jupp, chairman of Millward Brown Lansdowne.

Police chief concerned about Wisconsin's Walker
Police chief Noble Wray of Madison, Wisconsin on Thursday asked Republican Gov. Scott Walker to explain "very unsettling and troubling" comments made in what he thought was a private phone call.
Pranked by a gonzo journalist pretending to be conservative billionaire David Koch, Walker said on the 20-minute call that his administration considered planting "troublemakers" in the crowd of demonstrators opposing his budget, which curtails the collective bargaining rights of public employees.
"I spent a good deal of time overnight thinking about Governor Walker's response, during his news conference yesterday, to the suggestion that his administration 'thought about' planting troublemakers among those who are peacefully protesting his bill," Wray said in a statement." I would like to hear more of an explanation from Governor Walker as to what exactly was being considered, and to what degree it was discussed by his cabinet members."
"I find it very unsettling and troubling that anyone would consider creating safety risks for our citizens and law enforcement officers. Our department works hard dialoging with those who are exercising their First Amendment right, those from both sides of the issue, to make sure we are doing everything we can to ensure they can demonstrate safely," he said.
Walker hinted in the call that he ultimately decided against planting "troublemakers" in the crowd. He joked to the Buffalo Beast's Ian Murphy, who he thought was Koch, that he may use a baseball bat in his office to go after the protesters.
Wray said he was "concerned" what Walker's remarks could signify, adding that it's his "responsibility" to "find out more about what was being considered by state leaders."
Wisconsin Democrats fled the state last week to prevent the Republican majority from getting the necessary votes for the bill.
On the call, Walker expressed no desire to back down in what has become a high-profile national issue, and seemed confident that enough Democrats would eventually come around to help push his measure through.

Irish vote after massive bail-out
Polls have opened in the Republic of Ireland, the first eurozone state to hold a general election following a financial bail-out.
The ballot was called more than a year early, a few months after the ruling coalition negotiated an 85bn-euro (£72bn) EU/IMF loan package.
Divisions had emerged in the ruling coalition between Fianna Fail and the Green Party.
A record number of independent candidates are standing for election.
Voting began at 0700 GMT and is due to finish at 2200 GMT. Polls opened on some of the country's islands on Wednesday.
There are 566 candidates fighting in 43 constituencies for 165 seats in the Irish parliament (Dail Eireann).
The burden of the bail-out will likely loom large in voters' minds as they enter the polling booths, with all the main parties promising to amend it.

MADISON, Wis. – Republicans in the Wisconsin Assembly took the first significant action on their plan to strip collective bargaining rights from most public workers, abruptly passing the measure early Friday morning before sleep-deprived Democrats realized what was happening.
The vote ended three straight days of punishing debate in the Assembly. But the political standoff over the bill — and the monumental protests at the state Capitol against it — appear far from over.
The Assembly's vote sent the bill on to the Senate, but minority Democrats in that house have fled to Illinois to prevent a vote. No one knows when they will return from hiding. Republicans who control the chamber sent state troopers out looking for them at their homes on Thursday, but they turned up nothing.
"I applaud the Democrats in the Assembly for earnestly debating this bill and urge their counterparts in the state Senate to return to work and do the same," Assembly Speaker Jeff Fitzgerald, R-Horicon, said in a statement issued moments after the vote.
The plan from Republican Gov. Scott Walker contains a number of provisions he says are designed to fill the state's $137 million deficit and lay the groundwork for fixing a projected $3.6 billion shortfall in the upcoming 2011-13 budget.
The flashpoint is language that would require public workers to contribute more to their pensions and health insurance and strip them of their right to collectively bargain benefits and work conditions.
Democrats and unions see the measure as an attack on workers' rights and an attempt to cripple union support for Democrats. Union leaders say they would make pension and health care concessions if they can keep their bargaining rights, but Walker has refused to compromise.
Tens of thousands of people have jammed the Capitol since last week to protest, pounding on drums and chanting so loudly that police providing security have resorted to ear plugs. Hundreds have taken to sleeping in the building overnight, dragging in air mattresses and blankets.

Anti-Gaddafi forces surround Tripoli
Anti-Gaddafi forces surround Tripoli Soldiers strike back against demonstrators, but it's starting to look bleak for Libya's dictator.
ghaddafi's pretty slimy statement that the demonstrators are motivated by al-quaida was doomed to failure from the start. There was just some guy who reported again that Lockerbee was committed by Ghaddafi. In former years, Ghaddafi had used such an opportunity to stress his eagerness to be sharp (or sth), again. Today, he stressed his personal parallels to Elizabeth the 2nd, obviously because a British battleship was en route to Tripolis.
Ghaddafi is weak, and he evades every point in the way that could additionally weaken him more.

Corpse found inside truck
(CNN) -- Authorities trying to help a sick man and a child in a truck on a Florida highway also found a body in the vehicle Monday.
The incident started in the morning when a pest control truck pulled to the side of the road on I-95 in the West Palm Beach area.
Firefighters came to the scene and found a man and a boy suffering from some type of illness, said Chase Scott, a spokesman for West Palm Beach police.
Both were rushed to hospitals and were in serious condition, Scott said. Some of the firefighters on scene also became sick from fumes coming from the vehicle and had to be hospitalized.
Hazardous material teams were called in and while going through the truck authorities found a body inside a bag, Scott said.
The man and the boy had not been charged, but authorities had searched the man's home in southwest Dade County, Scott said.
Scott did not provide much information on the body that was found in the truck.

Berlusconi has to stand trial in speedy trial
Judge indicts Silvio Berlusconi on charges he paid for sex with a 17-year-old girl and tried to cover it up.
ROME — An Italian judge on Tuesday ordered Premier Silvio Berlusconi to stand trial on charges he paid for sex with a 17-year-old Moroccan girl and then tried to cover it up.
Judge Cristina Di Censo handed down the indictment with a terse statement. The trial is to begin April 6.
While Berlusconi has stood trial on a number of business-related charges, this is the first time the 74-year-old billionaire businessman is being tried for personal conduct. Berlusconi has denied wrongdoing.
Prosecutors allege Berlusconi paid for sex with the Moroccan girl, nicknamed "Ruby the Heart Stealer", then used his influence to get her out of police custody when she was detained for the unrelated suspected theft of €3,000 ($4,103).

Saeb Erakat has submitted his resignation as the chief Palestinian negotiator, according to Mohammed Shtayeh, Palestinian negotiator and a Fatah Central Committee member.
Erakat had previously said that he would resign his post if an investigation into the leak of Palestinian negotiating documents aired by the Al-Jazeera television network proved that the source of papers came from his office.
The so-called Palestine Papers suggested that Palestinian negotiators offered to give up large swaths of East Jerusalem to Israel during talks dating back to 2008 and that they had been willing to offer much larger concessions in private than they were publicly acknowledging.

Washington (CNN) -- Republican Rep. Christopher Lee of New York resigned his House seat Wednesday after a report that the married congressman had tried to meet a woman on Craigslist.
"It has been a tremendous honor to serve the people of Western New York," Lee said in a statement posted on his website. "I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness."
The statement said that "the challenges we face in Western New York and across the country are too serious for me to allow this distraction to continue, and so I am announcing that I have resigned my seat in Congress effective immediately."
Just before 6 p.m., an announcement read on the House floor said Lee had resigned as of 5 p.m. Wednesday, and the number of the House members decreased by one from 435 to 434.
Lee, who is married and has a son, resigned after the website Gawker published an item reporting that he corresponded with a woman who posted a Craigslist ad and allegedly sent her a bare-chested photo of himself.

BUZZFLASH
The patriot act, obviously still a fantastic piece of legislature, despite robbing the average US citizen of his rights, failed -tooootally astooonishing to me.
A plan that would have seen the House of Representatives extend controversial provisions of the PATRIOTAct with little debate failed Tuesday night, as a group of Republicans joined a majority of Democrats in voting no.
The House voted 277 to 148 for the PATRIOT Act extension -- 23 votes short of the two-thirds majority needed to pass it under a procedure that allows bills that aren't controversial to pass quickly.
But it appears the bill was controversial enough to convince some two dozen tea party-backed Republican freshmen to join a majority of Democrats in voting against it, The Hill reported.

"He decided he wanted to leave people with the impression that he didn't want to go to the CIA [in the Ford administration]. And that someone made him go there. And it was probably Rumsfeld or something."
Yeah, we will recall you the freedom. AS .Thanx for 911 anyway
?not clear? Well, the GOP toughened its stance pretty much before Carter, for example through interdependence.Well, Carter caught Ford pretty much cold, but then again , he got dismantled pretty fast by people like Rumsfeld or Ted Kennedy. The Repugs gained 12 years in govt for a democratic party, that was especially in 88 unable to put up some worthy alternative. Then came CLinton, and most clocks ticked diffrently again. I stiull think it was partly this credo that the GOPers are tougher or sth that made Bush vulnerable towards 911, especially thanx to such idioms like Rumsfeld.
Bush gave a skix about the memo "Bin Laden determined to strike in the US" and it was mainly for such "activists" like Rumsfeld.

Germany: A Turk to be voted about
Obviously, not all conservative German politicians are as liberul as mister Westerwelle. Mr. Mappus declared that the voting in Baden-Wuerttemberg, one of Germany's 'states' , will be about Mr. Oezdemir, head of Germany's ecos. Now, Mr Oezdemir is no candidate in this election, so the thought is a bit faint or distant.
