New customer business makes problem - nervousness at Telekom


The German Telekom continues to turn the cost screw. An unexpectedly weak new customer business forces Bonn's company to further savings efforts. According to Germany boss van Damme the profit objectives are otherwise in danger.

The German Telekom intensifies its austerity course now in order to reach profit objectives. Reason is an unexpectedly weak new customer business, said Germany boss van Damme to
" Wirtschaftswoche.de". Still one month ago the Telekom had disclaimed a media report about stronger savings efforts.

" With the (current) customer increase we are not according to plan" , expressed van Damme. That is because of the increasing saturation of the market. In areas like the broadband connection the increase in new contracts is clearly lower compared with the previous years. "There begins a trend , which we had only expected in two, three years. We know thus the reason, however nevertheless we will stick to our ambitious goals ."
