Italy's right-wing head of govt Silvio Berlusconi was heavily defeated in the deceissive round of the municipal election: the candidates of his party "people of freedoms" (PDL) were defeated in a runoff election in his birth place milan in the race for the mayor and as well in Naples by the left, how the interior ministry corresponded. The election was considered as an important polling for the mood about Berlusconi.
