Germany:Police dashes protest against Stuttgart railroad project

C, the principal idea of a cop is that u catch everybody someone stealing for example chewing gums. Afterwards the shop owner is happy and the state is happy because it gets 50 euros fine. Now, if u beat up pupils protesting a project overpriced by 4 bio - what stinks like corruption - u get these ugly civil lawsuits. See, u could for example instead prosecute the project manager and check wheter he bribed someone lets say with 1 bio thru tax evasion. The suxess would be that all Germans get an 1 bio tax cut in my eyes. In the end, what happened is that pupils got beaten up what is bad and this shouldnt happen. Its an unidealistic project -it only serves traffic. That is brazen barbarism and perverts the purpose of a state. It's finally culture for what u build a community I guess.
This points at the german minister of interior, Tommy de Misière. He undoubtfully claims French roots and obviously France seems to be interested in culture though the recent protests against retirement with 62 werent going this well also.
On the other hand, nobles didnt rule France since 1789. Perhaps due to a lack of culture.

Pakistan Cuts NATO Supply Route After Chopper Attack

(Sept. 30) -- Pakistan halted NATO deliveries along a key supply route into Afghanistan today, in apparent retaliation for a coalition helicopter strike hours earlier that killed three Pakistani soldiers at a border post.

NATO and Pakistani officials gave differing accounts of the missile strike. Unidentified Pakistani security sources told the Los Angeles Times that three NATO choppers crossed into Pakistan's Kurram tribal region before dawn and fired on an outpost belonging to the Frontier Corps, a border security unit. Three soldiers were killed and another three wounded.

But NATO spokesman Lt. Col. John Dorrian told CNN that coalition forces "do not believe the helicopters crossed the border." Instead, he said they observed what they believed was a group of insurgents preparing to fire mortars at a NATO base on the Afghan side, and called in an airstrike to kill them.

Goldman Sachs is flitting Europe

Goldman Sachs may leave Europe

Well, the Paulson reign seems to have splendid returns in anti-capitalistic terms. The latest victim seems to be Goldman Sachs which claimed close connection to Mr.Paulson. Now, Europeans currently thinking about their "west - ties" shouldnt be very happy though. There is for example Germany's West LB up for sale at the moment. Its something like a state bank where municipalities could get easy loans for road construction and so on. This character was alienated by time and it became a bunch of greedy derivative buyers and sellers. Now, there was recently discussed a fusion between West LB and Bavarian LB but Bavarians got this hillarious 210 bio € HRE disaster so I think of them as well of as a conglomerate of greed.

This article mentions a possible fusion between Hessian LB, Berlin LB and West LB (WestLB, Helaba und Landesbank Berlin). I think its the best solution. It got the following advantage: IT WILL BE CONTROLLED. msg to these right super security assholes: here u got an explicit case where left security WILL BE BETTER.

Reports: Terror Plot on European Tourists Uncovered

(Sept. 29) -- Intelligence agencies have uncovered a sophisticated al-Qaida plot to kidnap and murder tourists at landmarks across Europe, allegedly modeled after the 2008 Mumbai siege that left nearly 200 people dead in hotels, cafes and a train station in India.

The plot has been thwarted by the CIA, which launched a recent barrage of drone strikes against Pakistani militants in the mountainous border region with Afghanistan, a senior U.S. intelligence official told Fox News.

So far European security officials haven't raised their national terror warning levels. The Eiffel Tower was briefly evacuated late Tuesday after someone called in a bomb threat from a telephone booth. Nothing was found, but it was the second such threat there in two weeks.

The plan by al-Qaida and possibly Taliban organizers was in an "advanced but not imminent stage," and suspects had been under surveillance by Western spy agencies "for some time," Sky News reported. Several of them were killed in the drone attacks, it said.

An unidentified British official told The Associated Press the plot had an "Islamist connection" but wouldn't confirm it was "al-Qaida inspired."

Meanwhile, a German counterterrorism official told CNN that a German citizen of Afghan descent, Ahmed Sidiqi, is the source of intelligence on the plot. Sidiqi was detained in Kabul in July and transferred to U.S. custody, where he "revealed details about the terror plot," the official said. Sidiqi used to attend the same mosque in Hamburg where al-Qaida militants met to plan the Sept. 11 attacks, the official said.

And in Spain, a U.S. citizen of Algerian descent has been arrested on suspicion of fundraising for al-Qaida's North African branch, police told Reuters today. It's unclear whether his arrest is connected at all to the larger European plot.

The CIA has launched a record number of more than 20 drone strikes in Pakistan so far this month to thwart the plot, The Wall Street Journal reported. American officials are also looking into whether the planned attacks in Europe might have extended to targets inside the U.S. as well, it said. But another U.S. official told NBC News that no U.S. link has been discovered.

Four people were killed in a suspected U.S. missile strike in Pakistan's South Waziristan region on Tuesday, but it's unclear whether they were connected to the alleged plot.

Without referring to the latest plot, U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told a Senate hearing last week that "increased activity" by militant groups signals a heightened threat to Western targets.

"We are all seeing increased activity by a more diverse set of groups and a more diverse set of threats," Napolitano said, according to Al-Jazeera. The growing threat is "directed at the West generally," she said.

Caracas, Venezuela (CNN) -- President Hugo Chavez's ruling United Socialist Party of Venezuela won more seats than opponents in the country's parliamentary elections, but lost the supermajority that has allowed for quick passage of many of Chavez's pet projects.

General Petraeus Is Messing With the Wrong People

Bob Woodward’s new book, “Obama’s War,” comes out tomorrow, and leaked excerpts show just how hard some military leaders are fighting to stop a withdrawal from Afghanistan. Late last year, as President Obama struggled to pin the military down into an airtight exit strategy, General Petraeus said: “[The administration] is ****ing with the wrong guy.” It’s clear Petraeus and his subordinates want to ignore the July 2011 deadline to start withdrawing troops. A colonel briefing reporters at the Pentagon this week even told them that, “No one said that we were withdrawing in July 2011.” Military officials need to understand that it’s not up to them when we leave Afghanistan. Ultimately, that’s up to us, the American people, and we’re sick and tired of this war that’s not making us safer and that’s not worth the cost.

Washington (CNN) -- The Department of Defense recently purchased and destroyed thousands of copies of an Army Reserve officer's memoir in an effort to safeguard state secrets, a spokeswoman said Saturday.

"DoD decided to purchase copies of the first printing because they contained information which could cause damage to national security," Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. April Cunningham said.

In a statement to CNN, Cunningham said defense officials observed the September 20 destruction of about 9,500 copies of Army Reserve Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer's new memoir "Operation Dark Heart."

Shaffer says he was notified Friday about the Pentagon's purchase.

"The whole premise smacks of retaliation," Shaffer told CNN on Saturday. "Someone buying 10,000 books to suppress a story in this digital age is ludicrous."

U know some time ago I bought me an ati 5570. Today I met my dear friend Oliver in Silent Green. He told me about valuable NVIDEA (=no vision) and how he liked to put multiple NVIDIA cards on one platina as to use them as coprocessors. Finally I recommended him after a while again the ATI cards and he had to admit that the QUBE tech was first on the ATI cards. But that their advertising was lousy and NVIDEA put some girls on an exhibition and finally everybody bought the crap. I said nobody wanted to buy their BORG qube so it was no bad idea to put some girls on the show and he was silent.Anyway again he told me the third time that he bought some X BOX and he brazed something on the platine and somehow jerked the 16 kbyte bios or sth (something like motherfukking IBM bios that got hacked by Compaq) anyway he was sorry to have lost 150 euros on ebay. I was sorry also and I told him that I bought an Amiga and there was a Copper to produce lines and a Blitter to move pixels and that I like logic. So he left the bar. first woman in Virginia since 1912 put to death

Va. Executes a Woman for 1st Time in US Since 2005

JARRATT, Va. (Sept. 24) -- Teresa Lewis spent the last days before her execution as she had spent one side of her life - singing hymns and praying. That devotion to Christianity, by her own admission, was countered by outrageous bouts of sex and betrayal.

That dark side led her life to a deadly turn in 2002 when she plied two men with sex and cash to kill her husband and stepson to collect on a $250,000 insurance policy. For that, the 41-year-old on Thursday was the first woman put to death in the U.S. since 2005.

Lewis died by injection at 9:13 p.m., apologizing first to the sole surviving daughter of the husband she had killed. She was the first woman in Virginia since 1912 put to death. Her supporters and relatives of the victims watched her execution at Greensville Correctional Center in Jarratt.

Pop Singer Eddie Fisher Dead at 82

Pop singer Eddie Fisher passed away Wednesday night at his home in Berkeley of complications from hip surgery, his daughter, Tricia Leigh Fisher of Los Angeles, told The Associated Press. He was 82.

"Late last evening the world lost a true America icon," Fisher's family said in a statement released by publicist British Reece. "One of the greatest voices of the century passed away. He was an extraordinary talent and a true mensch."
In the early 50s, Fisher sold millions of records with 32 hit songs including 'Thinking of You,' 'Any Time,' 'Oh, My Pa-pa,' 'I'm Yours,' and 'Wish You Were Here.' His fame was enhanced by his 1955 marriage to movie darling Debbie Reynolds -- they were touted as "America's favorite couple" -- and the birth of two children. Their daughter Carrie Fisher became a film star herself in the first three 'Star Wars' films as Princess Leia.

His clear voice brought him a devoted following of teenage girls in the early 1950s before marriage scandals overshadowed his fame.

When Eddie Fisher's best friend, producer Mike Todd, was killed in a 1958 plane crash, Fisher comforted the widow, Elizabeth Taylor. Amid sensationalist headlines, Fisher divorced Reynolds and married Taylor in 1959.

Citibank is currently insisting on Abu Dhabi to buy a stake in it

NTV

I cant properly imagine what is so entertaining to have Abu Dhabi to buy a stake in me via some loan. It was a high sum and obviously, though the crisis is over, Citibank likes to have the cash and afterwards, pay some high interest rate. This hints more or less at the idea that Citibank likes risky business. Now, the conclusion is obvious thus: Abu Dhabi doesnt need to do so because Citibank isnt trustworthy, because the crisis is over and they may only do some risky business.

Roman Catholic Church: Money laundering in Vatican?

Geldwäsche im Vatikan?

Investigations against bank president

The Roman state attorney has put up investigations against the president of the Vatican-bank IOR for the suspicion of money laundering. A further high member of the bank is triggered by investigators besides bank president Tedeschi how the Italian daily paper "Corriere della Serra" reported. The Italian financial police confiscated 23 mio € on an IOR account deposited at another Italian bank.

The center of investigations is according to media reports a money transfer to Germany. Starting point was a transaction of 20 mio Euros thru IOR to JP Morgan in Frankfurt-Main. According to news agancy ANSA Gotti Tedeschi and the other manager are bein suspected of having been silent about the real orderers of the transaction. The Vatican expressed its "surprise."

It isnt the first investigation of such kind against the bank of the pope. The bank was in the headlines in the past again and again for non-transparent deals. According to former media reports the investigators suspected certain Italian tax-payers to use the "institute for religious works" as cover for tax fraud and embezzlement. 1 year ago media reported about similiar investigations in connection with unicredit.

According to "repubblica" investigators discerned years ago that IOR administered several accounts at several other banks and it pumped 180 mio € thru these accounts.

The last big scandal concerned the bank in 82. IOR was involved in the fraudulent bankruptcy of Banco Ambrosiano.

BEIJING – Japan urged China to remain calm and not inflame their diplomatic spat further Monday after Beijing severed high-level contacts and then called off a visit by Japanese youth over the detention of a Chinese fishing boat captain near disputed islands.

China's actions pushed already-tense relations to a new low, and showed Beijing's willingness to play hardball with its Asian rival on issues of territorial integrity, which include sparring with Japan over natural gas fields in the East China Sea.

Late Sunday, Beijing said it was suspending ministerial and provincial-level contacts, halting talks on aviation issues and postponing meetings to discuss energy-related issues, including a second round of talks with Japan on the gas deposits.

5 arrested during pope's UK visit

London, England (CNN) -- Investigators in Britain arrested six men on suspicion of terrorism Friday and reviewed security arrangements for Pope Benedict XVI's trip to the island, authorities said.

Some news reports said the arrests involved a potential threat to the pope, who was in London on Friday, but the Metropolitan Police declined to say whether the case was directly linked to the pontiff's visit.

Police said they were satisfied the pope's security plan remains "appropriate," and the pope's itinerary did not change.

Vatican spokesman Father Federico Lombardi said the pope and his representatives were not particularly worried about the arrests.

"The police have already said that the information they have until now collected demonstrated there is no need to change anything about the program of the pope and the security," Lombardi told reporters in London.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told NBC News on Wednesday that his country was justified in barring further visits by U.N. atomic inspectors and challenged other nations to fully disclose their nuclear activities.

He also rebuffed the threat of new sanctions: "Our nation does not need the United States whatsoever," he told NBC's Andrea Mitchell in Tehran. "Even if the U.S. administration increases the sanctions and — 100 times more, and even the Europeans join the United States to impose heavier sanctions, we in Iran are in a position to meet our own requirements."

Iran has already allowed the inspectors several visits and other western nuclear powers should allow the same kind of access to their facilities, Ahmadinejad said in a wide-ranging exclusive interview that included comments on the recent release of American Sarah Shourd from a Tehran prison. Another sad Rumsfeld day

while theres also a story out "Afghanistan hit by record number of US air strikes", we get to see the following: (it makes you sick)

Open thread for night owls: Pentagon censors

A fascinating new chapter in the story of the intelligence community’s obsessive secrecy is the Pentagon’s duel with St Martin’s Press over Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Shaffer’s book, Operation Dark Heart. Chris McGreal gives a run-down in The Guardian:

The US defence department is scrambling to dispose of what threatens to be a highly embarrassing exposé by the former intelligence officer of secret operations in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and of how the US military top brass missed the opportunity to win the war against the Taliban. The department of defence is in talks with St Martin’s Press to purchase the entire first print run on the grounds of national security. The publisher is content to sell the books but the two sides are in a grinding dispute over what should appear in a censored version and when it should be released.

Now St Martin’s Press says it will put the partly redacted manuscript on sale next week whether or not the defence department likes it—and there doesn’t appear much the authorities can do. The army had cleared the book by Lieutenant Colonel Shaffer, about “black ops” in the Afghan war when he was based at Bagram in 2003, for publication after relatively minor changes. But when the intelligence services and defence department officials saw it they were alarmed.

This account leaves a key player in the shadows. JSOC, the Joint Special Operations Command, has become a power unto itself within the Pentagon. In essence, Shaffer’s book went through the regular review and clearance process, was approved for publication, and then JSOC had a temper tantrum. The thrust of their objection was simple: “Our people don’t talk about JSOC operations, period.” In their view, special forces officers are subject to a code of silence. This view would seem to clash with the U.S. Constitution, and the notion of a duty to be silent also seems odd in a Pentagon headed by Robert Gates, who built his Washington comeback on a tell-all bestseller, From the Shadows: The Ultimate Insider’s Story.

Telekom boss Oberman was raided by police on 31-aug

Another breach of EU law - This time a breach of the "free market." Well, Mr von Brauchitsch lately committed suicide. it was a corruption scandal in the early days of Kohl(83-84). The point of time is renewdly kinda surprising. What doesnt work with Sarkozy and Betancourt doesnt work in this case very well also: Oberman doesnt have the innocence bonus. As von Brauchitsch is the early child of Kohl, Oberman is the late child of Kohl: they cant evade the EU very well.

EU threatens Paris with trial for expulsion of Roma-Romanians

In fact, gipsies are now a part of the EU for Romania is now part of the EU. Paris released a decree ordering national law enforcement to expulse especially Roma immigrants staying in certain camps. That is undoubtfully an ethnical trigger.

Looking back at 2008, the fact that Obama got elected is a certain image of plurality and Paris isnt obviously very eager to sign in the Canon.

I think what Paris is trying to do is to paint ignorance (of the current EU) as being steadfast and ignorance towards Obama as right propaganda.

In fact it is totally insufficient. paris worked for a long time for a bigger EU and the fact that the Repugnicans are governin France right now doesnt make these actions in the current context any more legal.

Well, Im totally supporting forbidding Burkas, but what Sarkozy does in context with Romania is forbidden thru EU treaties.

In fact, they even stay in camps. They are not even moving around and disturb anybody. Heck, there are for example Dutch moving around in campers during vacation time and so on. I cant see exactly the principle this decree is based on despite it is creating a racial barrier within the EU.

The point is, u got a certain number of people in a camp. But the number is too lousy. Romania got a population of 22mio and 2.5% of them are Roma. So u got at best 450000 Roma moving to France and staying there. So it's at best some fascist exemple how to treat foreigners.

rawstory

Amid the launch of a new campaign to encourage greater scrutiny of the right-wing "American Crossroads" groups known to many as the "shadow RNC," an activist organization declared that it would give $100,000 to any person who comes forward with "information leading to the arrest and conviction of Karl Rove."

The campaign is being conducted by American Crossroads Watch, an offshoot of Velvet Revolution, which promotes issues key to many progressives activists and represents the political will of dozens of organizations and unions nation-wide.

Turkish constitutional reforms pass

Istanbul, Turkey (CNN) -- Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan hailed the passage of a wide-ranging package of constitutional amendments as a "milestone for democracy" after voters approved the measures in a Sunday referendum.

In a resounding victory for Erdogan and his ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), voters approved the 26 amendments by a wide margin Sunday. The country's current constitution was enacted after a military coup that took place on September 12, 1980, 30 years to the day before Sunday's vote.

"Our nation has said from now on, we go forward," Erdogan told supporters Sunday night. "Yes to freedom. Yes to rule of law. No to the law of the rulers. The tutelage of the coup regime is over."

But with more than 96 percent of the votes counted, 58 percent of voters favored the referendum, while 42 percent were opposed, Turkey's electoral board reported.

Turkey prepares to vote in constitutional referendum

bbc

The people of Turkey are voting in a referendum on changing the nation's constitution.

The government wants to make a number of alterations that would bring the constitution more in line with the European Union's standards.

Some critics say the changes would give the government too much control over the judiciary, others that the process has been rushed.

Supporters of the move say the 28-year-old military constitution must change.
The swing voters who turned out in droves to support the president aren't likely to back his party in November. Even core supporters express unhappiness with Democrats.

independent.co.uk

In Poland, she remains Germany's most hated living politician. Her unashamedly revanchist political views once prompted a Warsaw news magazine to portray her on its front cover clad in a sinister, swastika-covered Nazi SS uniform.

But yesterday, Erika Steinbach, probably the last surviving bête noire in Chancellor Angela Merkel's conservative government, took the first step towards bowing out of politics altogether after she started an explosive row over who was to blame for starting the Second World War.

Mrs Steinbach, 67, announced her formal departure from the leadership of Ms Merkel's Christian Democratic Party after enraging Germany's Central Council of Jews by inferring that Hitler's invasion of Poland in 1939 was merely a response to Poland's military mobilisation earlier that year.

Former Australia PM gets Cabinet post

Former Australia PM gets Cabinet post

CNN) -- Australia's Prime Minister Julia Gillard has brought back into her government, in a senior cabinet post, the man she overthrew in June.

Announcing her ministry in Melbourne Saturday, Gillard named Kevin Rudd as foreign affairs minister.

Gillard, who was Rudd's deputy prime minister in June, toppled him from the top job during a power struggle within the Labor government. At the time Rudd's popularity had been tumbling.

Soon after, Gillard called an election for August -- the outcome of which was decided only this week when the support of two independent members of parliament enabled Labor to retain government with a 76-74 majority.

Although relations between them have been obviously strained, Rudd supported Gillard during the election campaign and retained his own seat in the parliament.

Erdogan raps rivals ahead of poll

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has criticised the tactics of his political opponents ahead of a referendum on constitutional reform.

Speaking to the BBC ahead of Sunday's vote, Mr Erdogan accused them of using "disinformation and black propaganda".

The proposed reforms include controversial changes to Turkey's judiciary.

Opposition parties say the changes will give the government more control over the appointment of senior judges.

Obama Against a Compromise on Extension of Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy

Obama Against a Compromise on Extension of Bush Tax Cuts for the Wealthy

President Obama on Wednesday will make clear that he opposes any compromise that would extend the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy beyond this year, officials said, adding a populist twist to an election-season economic package that is otherwise designed to entice support from big businesses and their Republican allies. Mr. Obama’s opposition to allowing the high-end tax cuts to remain in place for even another year or two would be the signal many Congressional Democrats have been awaiting as they prepare for a showdown with Republicans on the issue and ends speculation that the White House might be open to an extension. Democrats say only the president can rally wavering lawmakers who, amid the party’s weakened poll numbers, feel increasingly vulnerable to Republican attacks if they let the top rates lapse at the end of this year as scheduled.

Pirate Bay goes down after police raids in 14 European countries

TorrentFreak, one of the web's most prominent torrent news sites, reports that the main target was the Pirate Bay's ISP in Sweden, where police tried to find out who was using two specific IP addresses. More raids happened in major Swedish cities, including at one university.

Although The Pirate Bay shares a host in Sweden with WikiLeaks, every indication is that these raids have nothing to do with that site, which has been in the news for moving its servers to an underground bunker to protect its secrets.

So... Mr.Sarazzin is renewdly thrashing certain groups within the society.
The unemployed, the immigrants, the Turks, the Jews, whatever comes into his way.

Well, when Sarazzin spoke two years ago about turning the radiators down, I didn't like to insinuate it to him. But now I like to: Sarazzin is only thrashing the Proletariat.

from wikipedia:

The proletariat (from Latin proletarius, a citizen of the lowest class) is a term used to identify a lower social class; a member of such a class is proletarian. Originally it was identified as those people who had no wealth other than their sons.

In Marxist theory, the proletariat is the class of a capitalist society that does not have ownership of the means of production and whose only means of subsistence is to sell their labour power[1] for a wage or salary. Proletarians are wage-workers, while some refer to those who receive salaries as the salariat. For Marx, however, wage labour may involve getting a salary rather than a wage per se. Marxism sees the proletariat and bourgeoisie (capitalist class) as occupying conflicting positions, since workers automatically wish their wages to be as high as possible, while owners and their proxies wish for wages (costs) to be as low as possible.

In Marxist theory, the borders between the proletariat and some layers of the petite bourgeoisie, who rely primarily but not exclusively on self-employment at an income no different from an ordinary wage or below it; and the lumpen proletariat, who are not in legal employment; are not necessarily well defined. Intermediate positions are possible, where some wage-labor for an employer combines with self-employment. While class belonging is often hard to determine in the case of each individual person, from the standpoint of society as a whole, taken in its movement (i.e. history), the class divisions are incontestable; the easiest proof of their existence is the class struggle - strikes, for instance. While an employee may be subjectively unsure of his class belonging, when his workmates come out on strike he is objectively forced to follow one class (his workmates, i.e. the proletariat) over the other (management, i.e. the bourgeoisie). Marx makes a clear distinction between proletariat as salaried workers, which he sees a progressive class, and Lumpenproletariat, "rag-proletariat", the poorest and outcasts of the society, such as beggars, tricksters, entertainers, buskers, criminals and prostitutes, which he considers a retrograde class.[2][3] Socialist parties have often struggled over the question of whether they should seek to organize and represent all the lower classes, or just the wage-earning proletariat.
