House Abandons Privacy Protections, Approves PATRIOT Act by Jason Ditz

The House of Representatives narrowly averted allowing the US Patriot Act to expire, abandoning all the proposed privacy provisions to the bill and approving it exactly as worded by the Senate in a vote earlier this week. Parts of Patriot Act would have expired Sunday, but passed through the Senate without debate. The vote, incredibly enough titled the “Medicare Physician Payment Reform Act,” passed 315-97. The bill was so named because Senate Democrats inserted the Patriot Act’s extension into a Medicare reform bill. Westerwelle also attacks big business despite welfare recipients

Currently, I can't follow Westerwelle's slalom too much. Recently, he made a remark that contended that there are some black sheeps in business who use employment money of the state to get cheap labor. Perhaps he only said so because the social dems demanded the German president to bar Westerwelle from further unbalanced remarks, so Westerwelle simply created some equality in his remarks. I mean I thoroughly approve his latest remarks. Yet, he even looses his last string, id est to disqualify poorer Germans. Westerwelles unstringent now. That makes him dangerous. I hope he doesnt ram aany unprotected objects.Amuk isnt just so sweet u know.

I'm not able to watch the health care summit today, but I just found out about this statement made by Democrat Louise Slaughter:

I even have one constituent -- you will not believe this, and I know you won't, but it's true -- her sister died. This poor woman had no denture. She wore her dead sister's teeth, which of course were uncomfortable and did not fit.

Do you ever believe that in America that that's where we would be?

I still remember when Argentine attacked the Falkslands in 82. It was great. Till then I was living in Germany nad it was this Nazi - commi thing only. Either u were more left or more right. It was somehow simply too stupid. But then - oh lucky me - Argentine attacked the Falklands. I was simply safe. There can be also drunken Spaniards who all of a sudden ram the 7th fleet. That was cool. I mean it can also be that lets say Tibetans dont like Chinese or maybe Basques Spaniards or whatsoever. Really helpful war.
BTW, Im not supporting Argentines bid. Rot in a trashcan, scum.

Now, we got such a case at current in Germany. Already sinking in the polls, u cant evade the feeling that the recent verbal excerpts of Mr Westerwelle arent exactly helpful for the standings of his party. So, I also think hes only earning some "Special K"-money (special interestK money) after the big election.

Olympics

The battle belonged to Korea's exquisite Kim Yu-na and Japan's sensational Mao Asada, who are the two best women skaters of their time. But the night belonged to Canada's courageous and heartrending Joannie Rochette, who was competing just two days after her mother, Therese, died of an apparent heart attack early Sunday morning shortly after arriving in Vancouver to watch her daughter skate.

It was an unforgettable evening on several levels. The quality of the skating by Kim and Asada, whose rivalry lived up to its billing, was, honestly, without precedent. Adding to the drama, they took the ice back to back. First it was Asada, the 2008 World Champion, landing her huge triple axel-double toe combination with ease -- the first triple axel by a woman in the Olympics since Japan's Midori Ito in 1992. And she brought more than her jumping to these Games. On a night when the judges were very conservative in awarding positive Grade Of Execution (GOE) points, Asada's spiral sequence was given a +2.00. She made no mistakes, and her artistry was masterful -- her program component scores ranged from 7.40 to 8.40. Pumping her fist after her final spin, Asada burst into a huge smile, as if to say: Beat that, Yu-na! -- as the Pacific Coliseum was suddenly aflutter in Japanese flags. Asada's total was 73.78, the second highest mark for a short program this year.

Cancun, Mexico (CNN) -- A shouting match involving the presidents of Venezuela and Colombia is the latest rumble in months of tension between the two South American nations.

The presidential outbursts between Hugo Chavez of Venezuela and Alvaro Uribe of Colombia happened Monday afternoon at a closed-door luncheon for heads of state attending the so-called "Unity Summit" being held near the Mexican beach resort of Cancun.

According to a source who attended the luncheon and asked not to be named because of the sensitivity of the situation, Chavez and Uribe started yelling and called each other names, using obscene language.

The source also said that Cuban President Raul Castro had to intervene to stop the verbal fight, asking, "How is it possible that we're fighting at a summit intended to unite Latin American and Caribbean countries?"

When asked about the incident, Mexican President Felipe Calderon declined to address the incident, but a spokesman for him confirmed that it happened.

The tension between Chavez and Uribe started last year after the Venezuelan president strongly criticized Uribe for allowing United States forces to be stationed at Colombian military bases.

Tensions have escalated as the countries accused each other of attempts to destabilize each other.

Colombia has accused Chavez's government of aiding leftist guerrilla groups that fight in Colombia. Meanwhile, Chavez accused Colombia of sending unmanned planes to spy on Venezuela.

The shouting match between Chavez and Uribe raises questions about the possibility of creating a regional organization that would speak with a unified voice for Latin American and Caribbean nations, one of the stated goals of the summit.

More than 30 leaders of Latin American and Caribbean nations are attending the two-day summit.

Supernova

CHICAGO (AFP) – Astronomers who have long used supernovas as cosmic mile markers to help measure the expansion of the universe now have an answer to the nagging question of what sparks the massive stellar explosions.

"These are such critical objects in understanding the universe," lead author Marat Gilfanov of the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics in Germany said Wednesday in describing his team's study.

"It was a major embarrassment that we did not know how they worked. Now we are beginning to understand what lights the fuse of these explosions."

Most scientists say Type 1a supernovae are formed when a white dwarf star -- the collapsed remnant of an old star -- becomes unstable after it exceeds its weight limit.

Instability could come from the merging of two white dwarfs or accretion -- a process in which the gravity of the star draws in enough material from a sun-like companion.

Using NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory, Gilfanov and his team studied the supernovas in five nearby elliptical galaxies and the central region of the Andromeda galaxy.

"Our results suggest the supernovae in the galaxies we studied almost all come from two white dwarfs merging," said co-author Akos Bogdan, also of Max Planck.

"If the supernova were produced by accretion, the galaxies would be roughly 50 times brighter in x-rays than actually observed."

Further study will be needed to determine if merging is also the primary cause of supernovae in spiral galaxies.

Pinpointing a possible supernova prior to the explosion is also extremely difficult, the researchers noted.

Pairs of white dwarfs are incredibly difficult to find. And once the white dwarfs spiral into distances when they are about to merge, it takes just a few tenths of a second for them to explode.

Knowing how supernovas are formed is key to better understand how they can be used to measure cosmic distances and tracing dark matter, said Mario Livio, an astrophysicist with the Space Telescope Science Institute in Maryland.

"We use Type 1a supernova to determine the properties of dark energy in order to be able to do that accurately we need to fully understand the evolution of the power of the luminosity of these supernovae," Livio said in a conference call with reporters.

"There is (also) this process that we call feedback -- namely all supernova play an important role in the evolution of their host galaxies."

The study is published in the February 18 edition of the journal Nature.

Dope of the nation

Westerwelle uttered recently:"Who works may not become more and more the dope of the nation."
He
started out on the topic by declaring that the welfare system has to become more trigger-happy. Now I regard it as a contradiction that a welfare system does trigger or shoot because it is for the ones who have been hit. Anyway, some hint may be the following link (if you dont understand what Westerwelle means - as so many):

Extra rules 4 tough cases concerning welfare developed

Christ Dem's Geissler seems to have slight problems in undetrstanding, too: He said about Westerwelles recent remark that late-Roman decadency is paying social welfare: "Caligula and the rich bathed in donkey-milk after their devourings. He declared a donkey to be consul.Insofar Westerwelle's comparison is correct:
100 days ago a donkey became Germany's foreign minister.

Preceedingly Westerwelle declared that "we got socialist bans on thinking" and that Germany's constitutional judges are socialists.

The leftparty called Westerwelle "an imposition and burden for all."Vice Ernst said Westerwelle is openly anti-constitutional.

Social Dem's Kraft said:"Westerwelle is now fishing in the brown swamp because the voters run away from him in hordes."
She said furthermore:"He's loosing his mind and any decency facing the drop in polls. Who is speaking in such a way about the weakest of the society is an arsonist."

Child abuse in Germanys catholic church (jesuits)

Well, I do not share the position of Mr Drewerman. The catholic church doesnt have necessarily a restrictive moral. I mean its principally rooted in abstinence. Theres abstinence from alcohol or abstinence from fat food or id est abstinence from sex. The catholic church rules that its priest do have to stay abstinent from sex to lift their public image. Now, recently noone gives a damn because the public is not really interested anymore in these convictions so the priest drive their own convictions to the other side and abuse children.I think the pope should lift the ban on marriage because he doesnt get too muchg out of abstinence in respect so he should introduce some well guided marriage for his priests. Still, he can get some guarantees. If he waits five years it maybe too late

Mind-boggling referee kicks Cologne out of Germanys cup

n-tv

There was a recent match for Germanys cup (no league match!). In it, 3 players of Cologne were sent off the field for minor irregularities that shouldn't have been punished with red cards. The first one who was sent off was Chihi, who didn't foul but who was fouled. The referee misinterpreted the situation completely and sent Chihi off the field for nothing. The second scene involved Podolski. In it, the first thing that happens is that Podolski commits a minor foul. The referee gives a free kick to the opposing team. Podolski is nerved, raises his thumb and says (cynically) "super". He gets the yellow card. Podolski does the same thing again and sees yellow-red. Total bullshit! Anyway the third yellow-red involves (Portugal's) Petit. Again, the start is a minor foul this time of Petit. Like Podolski, after the whistle Petit leaves the scene cursing and grumbling. It's not really severe and Petit moves away from the referee, pointing backwards. Anyhow, the referee feels mistreated and shows a yellow card to Petit. Anyhow again, after seeing it, Petit doesn't run mad or sth. but again moves away from the referee, again cursing. Anyhow the third, he sees yellow-red for it.
This referee was simply bought, and, such an attitude is unthinkable of in Italy or England. The German Soccer Association DFB should work quickly on its image and the support of quality soccer, otherwise they should do in running retirement programs.

Welfare performance chart by country in percentage of the GDP-like you can easily determine Germany's welfare performance is falling since 2003, so for straight 7 years (2009-2010 only estim8s)
Latest: Westerwelle is being accused by leftparty of incendiary remarks. In retaliation he says that people dont see anymore the worth of work and discerns "that there had 2 b some strange brain washing" going on in the last years. In fact, social dems and ecos sharpened the unemployment law. If unemployed you need to accept any job in Germany now, or your welfare might be shortened. He's probably relating to the time after 1945 as such.

LATEST: MERKEL DECLARES "Late-Roman decadency" isn't her dictus when it comes to welfare
well, I think late-Roman decadency involves heavy social rifts and a population that is happy to be occupied by barbarians for the social barriers to crumble. To involve late Roman decadency in welfare payments shows clearly Westerwelle tilts towards Hitler. Another point is that Mr Westerwelle was lately so kind to reduce the revenue tax on hotels while receiving some donation from Moevenpick. That is also decadent. It's nice that Mr. Westerwelle obviously admits meanwhile that it's only another way for him to earn money and that -obviously- in despite his moral guidelines stay the same - undecadent.
