Fini forms new alliance against Berlusconi

The triumph shouldnt last long which followed the confidence vote. Berlusconi could keep his government - with the marginal diffrence of 3 votes on tuesday. The votes were from representatives of the opposition, who were pulled over to his side by Berlusconi.

But the beaten president of parliament Fini does not surrender yet. His faction "Future and Freedom for Italy" (FLI) formed a new alliance with the christ dems of Casini (UDC) and further center players.

It is called "Pole of the nation" and comprises 100 members, 80 representatives and 20 senators.
The new block understands itself as secular or relatively catholic. The new miniparty of Rome's ex-mayor Rutelli who is an ex-left-democrat belongs to it as well and further splinter groups.
The cooperation shall be coordinated in parliament at first. The aim is to torpedo Berlusconi hiring new reps to survive future confidence votes.
