What startles me most from a left perspective is why the Social Dems did not killthe 1.3bio for WestLB. I mean they were originally introduced by the conservatives and now the conservatives doesnt want them anymore.So, skip it. 6.6 bio and 7 bio is much closer than 6.6 bio and 8.4bio


The date for the big staging is underlined for long: the conservatives described their judicial objection towards NRW's budget. Judiciary hitman Scholz is presenting an analysis why NRW's govt should be hindered from making any new debts by an immediate ordinance. It is a novum in Germany's judicial history.

Whether the file will at least be accepted by the court? Totally open. The judges could ask why the conservatives did not do a thing a parliament. There was not filed one single change to the budget. Though all opposition parties oppose 1.3bio euros in provisions for NRW's nearly bankrupt WestLB.
Finally, the conservatives did not bring in even all of their representatives for the vote. Three representatives were missing among them ex-prime Ruettgers. Some party colleagues of Ruettgers are now scandalizing Ruettger's trip. They are complaining about missing solidarity, "self-castration" is even more precise.
(A defeat -in a whole despite certain changes- couldn't have been stopped anyhow with Ruettgers also - due to the principal neutrality of leftparty.)
On the other hand it is the third vote where some representatives of the conservatives are missing. What is faction head Laumann doing as a first job anyhow? Or his vice Laschet? They are responsible for complete appearance. Where is the impact of NRW's party head and German minister of environment Roettgen and his executor Wittke? It serves the confusing picture that the conservatives killed the media-state-contract this week which was developed by the own people for 1 1/2 years, Ruettgers then filed a corresponding application. Now they teached themselves a lesson with some "think what." Instead of fighting left cable winches, the conservatives are paying off internal bills.

The filing in front of court puts new pressure on the party, which is already deeply divided. If it is successful, social dems and ecos will file for new elections due to the great polls. The conservatives will have to affirm this - whether they like it or not.
