There are many speculations about the time before Berlusconi became Italy's prime. A court condemned a close confidant to seven years of prison right now. He is supposed to have been a messenger between Berlusconi and the Cosa Nostra in the 70s.


A close confidant of Italy's prime Berlusconi acted as a messenger between the formerly rising businessman Berlusconi and the cosa nostra according to a court verdict. The senetor Marcello Dell'Utri is supposed to be the connective channel between the prime of today and the cosa nostra, the verdict of the appellate court in Palermo stated. The court condemned Dell'Utri in june due to connections to the cosa nostra to 7 years of prison. The verdict has still 2 b confirmed by the supreme cassation court.

It was confirmed during the trial that Dell'utri did connection-jobs between the mafia-clan and the rising Milan businessman, the 641 pages verdict stated, that was published in its entity by Italy's news agency ANSA (ANSA.it). The mafia bosses offered "protection." In return, Berlusconi paid a certain protection fee thru his company Fininvest, to be allowed to build transmission towers after a corresponding request of Dell'Utri.


Dell'Utri decided consciously to negoti8 in between the interests of Berlusconi and the mafia the court judged. The criminal group thus made illicit profit and was thus reinforced. According to the verdict the cosa nostra supported as well the foundation of Berlusconi's party FORZA ITALIA (force of Italy) in 1993.
