FBI criticizes release
I don't know. A state exists within its borders. A state is the sum of its citizens. -----> The plane exploded over English airspace. British citizens were killed. It's a weak decision. I wouldn't have made it. OK, I mean you can make it because Libya said all the time that they didn't mean it like this. But thats still hard to believe.

A weak decision ...... you my friend would not have had the guts, and certainly not the intelligence or charisma of Kenny Macaskill to carry off and explain his decision. The secretary of state, and attorney general of the most powerful country in the world calls a minister of a small 5 million people country (Inner LA has more people). He explained that terrorists will not change the nature or values of the Scottish people; and there history of mercy and compassion in the delivery of justice. Many of the world's most famous jurists, including many great American jurists state clearly that justice cannot be delivered without these qualities.
As Shakespeare puts it in the Merchant of Venice:

I am Scottish, I lived in San Francisco for 25 years, I am also an American citizen from birth. I also know Mueller personally, from his time as chief prosecutor at the dept of justice in SF. The guy is slightly left of Hitler; the FBI culture of hate and incompetency is a joke. What cracks me up is the movie/tv version of the FBI as heroes; these guys couldn't find their own ass with two hands and couldn't catch a cold in a flu ward.Mercy and compassion mean nothing to them and so the letter to Kenny is a appropriate to who they are. They wouldn't know justice if it hit them between the eyes. Some of the biggest liars on the stand are FBI agents.
The plane exploded over Scottish airspace, and it killed Scots men, woman and children .... to state that it happened in England is an insult to every Scot. It was our King James the 1st who took over England, not the other way around; we have our own language, culture and race and law; our nation defeated the largest army to take the field of battle for 600 years thereafter and we fought at a at a 10 to 1 ratio.
Our small nation gave the new world, the telephone, penicillin, tar macadam (roads), the steam engine and television. At the turn of the 18th century one in every for American were Scots/Irish.
Tell you what; why don't you start another war on something that you cannot finish. e.g. the war on morons, and then you'd have to kill all yourselves!
Actually it was the Australian Howard Florey who discovered penicillin, Felming (the Scotsman) took the credit.
I do agree that it is a Scots matter and non of the business of the US of for that matter the UK gov.
I fully support Kenny Macaskill..he has shown true courage and integrity in the face of enormous pressure from the biggest hypocrites around ie the US..these so called religious bunch of people that they portray themselves to be should read the Bible and try to understand the true message that Jesus was trying to send to us and to not manipulate the Bible for their own wicked..it seems this bunch of fools don't get the message of forgiveness and mercy which is the crux of Christianity..anyway these so called people who are talking tough on not releasing terrorists are the same ones who had released a group of Cuban American terrorists who had bombed a Cuban plane a few years ago..so let me ask them what is the difference of that case versus this one..is it because the Cubans were brown skinned and so don't have the right to the same sort of justice as the white Americans? So what do you say to that

At last a leader with principles and courage. I've been waiting for this breakthrough since the economic crisis when no-one just stood up and said that we should all stop being selfish. The time is ripe for new leadership and Kenny MacAskill has lifted us from the mire. How refreshing !
However this is not uniquely Scottish, neither is it restricted to where your mother gave birth to you, it depends on your individual principles. All leaders in all countries can do this. I hope more do so.
I just head a radio programme at 11am GMT on BBC Scotland (8/23), where a US soldier flying into battlefields to uplift and treat the dying explained he would treat both sides equally. He chokes up because he felt so strongly. Will the head of the FBI approach these officers and accuse then of the same and will he publish letters to everyone of them ?. Consistency may not be one of his principles or he may not be comfortable applying it in the US. Perhaps the soldiers, like Kenny MacAskill are just doing the job they are meant to do, and doing it bravely and honourably.

The whole American judicial system is "a mockery of law", even though americans brag about it so much. Look at their court cases and "fair trials." Just think of the fact that they still kill people "found" guilty of heinous crimes, just to make a DNA analysis years later and release the "convict".
The decision is a decision of the state of Scottland and it's no business of the american officals to "criticize" such decisions. They'd better clean up their own filthy house first.
Arguments about Megrahi's innocence are irrelevant. He was found guilty by a Scottish court, and withdrew his appeal against that conviction, effectively admitting his guilt. If you were accused of such a hideous crime, would you abandon your appeal so readily?
And let's not hear any nonsense about his illness. I wouldn't wish prostate cancer on anyone, but you can go on for about 10 years with it, even if it isn't cured. Like Ronnie Biggs, he is at it - claims he is at death's door, but he'll be around for years to come, and every day he survives as a free man is an insult to the 270 victims of the atrocity he played his part in.
Think about that number for a second - 270. That is how many people he was convicted of murdering, yet he walks (albeit with the aid of a stick) free after less than 10 years in jail. There must be lots of junkies, pensioners and menatlly ill inmates in Scotland's jails who are a helluva lot nearer death's door than him. Is Kenny Macaskill going to free them all too? He just might you know, in a country where the average violent killer serves less than 5 years in jail. Now the rest of the world can see the nightmare Scotland has become under the rule of a liberal media/government establishment, who believe criminals should have more rights than their victims ever had. And yet here in Glasgow we live in a city with the highest murder rate in the western world. Not to mention the highest rate of heroin addiction. But that doesn't make the news, you have to be a 'bigot' to attract the scorn of the authorities. Or a litter lout. Or a smoker.. but terrorists and their supporters get off Scot-free.
What this shows is that the SNP is an adolescent administration. In the face of condemnation from 'adult' countries, they press ahead with their gross misjudgement, just to prove to the world how grown-up and independent they are. And while upsetting the Americans might have been fashionable when George W. Bush was president, peeving off Barack Obama really isn't big or clever. Especially for a country who's biggest industry is tourism, and which is looking to attract most of those tourists from the USA during our 'year of homecoming.' Oh dear Mr. Macaskill, you really have put your foot in it. No wonder Alex Salmond is nowhere to be seen to back you up, or Gordon Brown. I just hope you guys really did strike a good deal with the Libyans, because the people of this country are sick of your establishment showing 'compassion' to killers, terrorists and their sympathisers, while trying to hit the rest of us with on-the-spot fines for simply choosing to live our lives in ways you don't agree with.
But this is the problem with devolution. Any serious politician from Scotland goes to work in the UK administration in London, while in Edinburgh we are left with second-raters like Kenny Macaskill. A man who was arrested and held by police in London for drunken behaviour and anti-English racism after the Scottish national football team played England at Wembley in 1999. Yet this guy is allowed to make massive decisions like this, as well as telling the rest of us how to live our lives? What a joke!
So there you have it, Scotland in 2009. A country where people are allowed to show their support for Irish and islamic terrorist organisations, but people who show their opposition are arrested and demonised in the press. Where living your life is considered a serious crime, but taking a life (or 270) simply is not. In other words, every American's worst nightmare. Homecoming Scotland - the joke's on us!!
You would expect Robert Mueller to have a better grasp of the facts.
He states in his official letter that Megrahi was convicted by jury. There was no jury.
If he cannot get such a simple fact right, how can he be trusted with anything more complex?
As for exercising mercy, compassion, clemency, or whatever, is it not the case in the USA that departing presidents routinely pardon hundreds of convicted felons?
Or think of William Calley. Sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour for 22 counts of murder at My Lai (out of a total of well over 300 killed by the US army). His sentence was commuted by Nixon to house arrest, of which he served three years.

What i also love about your post apart from the arrogant dismissal of the entire race of Scottish people, is what a seer you are of medical facts; what a fantastic prognosticator of medical events and how you shape this magical knowledge into your argument. Every fact you have quoted in your diatribe against Scotland is wrong, Salmond and Brown have supported MacAskill in public. I don't mind a reasoned disagreement with the Scottish minister for Justice decision, it is obvious that some or many will disagree; but did you even bother to listen to how and why he made his decision, and the circumstances in which the man made it?; because calling us names, and saying we need the adults of the English parliament are a fools dream. and ignorant in the extreme
Scotland 2009 is what it is at least in part because of our relationship with all of the English adults. To segregate yourself and claim foul is typical of England and its people. Do you know how many of the dead in Afghanistan are Scots; it is far disproportionate to the 10% of population in the UK.
However; since you are so good at being told what to think and feel; i will instruct you; Think that Scots hate the English because of the very statements you have made; and feel like the jackass that you are.
