Pauli was partly responsible for creating the "free voters" in Bavaria. They got mainly the same program as the conservatives especially in social matters but differ when it comes to personal liberties and so on. So they are pretty similiar to the lib dems. The free voters were pretty successful during Bavaria's last election where they stopped a 50-year-conservative-rule by reaching more than 20 %. They were also pretty successful during Saxony's municipal election on 7th of june 2009.
The former conservative (CSU) politician Gabriele Pauli has been excluded from the "free voter" faction in Bavaria's parliament. Faction head Aiwanger reported it to the media on tuesday after a Free-Voter faction summit in Munich. 17 of 20 deputees voted for Pauli's exclusion.
The Free voters have thus drawn the consequences out of Paulis announcement 2 create an own party.
The exclusion was looming after frontiers hardened between Pauli and the faction leadersip in the past days.
