Obama orders Geithner 2 try 2 block AIG bonusses -Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley suggested on Monday that AIG executives should take a Japanese approach

NYTIMES: Obama orders Geithner 2 try 2 block AIG bonusses

IOWA CITY, Iowa (March 17) - Iowa Sen. Charles Grassley suggested on Monday that AIG executives should take a Japanese approach toward accepting responsibility for the collapse of the insurance giant by resigning or killing themselves.
The Republican lawmaker's harsh comments came during an interview with Cedar Rapids, Iowa, radio station WMT. They echo remarks he has made in the past about corporate executives and public apologies, but went further in suggesting suicide.

Am I only thinking this? I think Grassley maybe gettin' rid of people who know too much

I mean some tons of thermate to blow up the WTC cost a lotta money.
I mean which mafiosi kills himself anyway? Why so Japanese? It suggests sth like Pearl Harbor...

I mean if you produce 2 kilos of thermate a day and u pile 200 g each day black because of your production line because nobody will be able to prove that u didn't produce 1.8kilos but 2 kilos, it'll still be pretty expensive black thermate. And then you need at least two tons. So it must be a big firm and u need to bribe a whole lotta people.

Well so much for that. ON CNBC: Eleven of the AIG employees who received bonuses north of a million dollars have left the firm.

So was "retention" a condition of the bonus? Does the money revert to AIG? Breach of contract?

I mean if these people start running it looks like Mr Grassley is a bit dissatisfied with having them on the Philippines, Bermudas, Seychelles...

More or less interestingly (yah, I know these are also informations BEFORE), Mr.Cuomo said sth about the matter also:

Mr. Cuomo did not name the recipients of bonuses but said one employee received more than $6.4 million. The top seven received more than $4 million each, and the top 10 received a combined $42 million. Eleven of those who received “retention” bonuses of $1 million or more are no longer working at A.I.G., including one who received $4.6 million, he said.

“A.I.G. made more than 73 millionaires in the unit which lost so much money that it brought the firm to its knees forcing a taxpayer bailout,” Mr. Cuomo wrote in the letter. “Something is deeply wrong with this outcome.”
