Le candidat de l'opposition, Mauricio Funes, élu président au Salvador

Mauricio Funes, candidate of the ex-guerilla of the extreme left of Salvador, declared himself winner sunday evening, meaning hes the elected president of this cebtral-American country what has been governed by the right for 20 years giving him 51.2% of the votes in comparison to the right candidate who obtained 48.7% of the votes. More than 90% of the ballots were counted when this result was published.



"I am the president of all Salvadorians" declared the candidate of the ex-rebel army of FRONT FARABUNDO MARTI FOR THE LIBERATION OF THE NATION (FMLN) during a press conference.

"Aujourd'hui, c'est la victoire des citoyens qui ont cru en l'espérance et ont vaincu la peur. C'est une victoire de tout le peuple du Salvador", a-t-il ajouté. "A ce moment même, l'Arena [Alliance républicaine nationaliste, parti conservateur jusqu'ici au pouvoir, NDLR] passe dans l'opposition, et elle doit avoir la garantie qu'elle sera respectée et écoutée", a-t-il poursuivi.
