High expectations towards US
Approximately 2000 participants from 180 countries start today a new round of talks concerning climate change in Bonn, Germany. The ten-day-lasting "labor-weekend" (meaning its no smart-talk all the time) triggers a new treaty based on the results of the Bali-summit in 2007. Many are curious how the US will position itself during the "pre"-conference in Bonn.
The US didn't participate in Kyoto. Instead, the new US-president Barack Obama announced a leading role of his country concerning climate protection.
Obama steps ahead
Obama announced the creation of a "forum for energy and climate" including leading economical powers as participants to have actions followed on his words.
