Ukraine: Justchenko accuses Timochenko of popularism

German ntv: Justchenko accused Julia Timochenko of improper popularism while driving Ukraine into state-bankruptcy
"If we continue on the current path, the final result wont be any good," Justchenko said in an interview with german press agency dpa."We need a responsible, rigid and thouroughly on containing the crisis triggered legislation. But clearly, Timochenko isn't focussed on it at all." The two pro-western political figures of the country each address the guilt for the crisis to the other for longer.

"It is not the task of a president to announce bankruptcy, but the situation is very serious," the former head of the state-bank said. He accused Timochenko of designing the budget unprofessionally and below free-market ideas. The current budget shows a deficit of 5bio$. Timochenko called for example for Russia on loans. The government in Kiew cuts retirement pay, energy-prices and welfare without executing principal demands by the IMF.

Justchenko expressed his disappointment about Timochenko using these populist policies to present her as a viable candidate for the next election. "It makes me angry. We have to find a way outta the crisis and we should not seek personal advantages."

He wouldnt announce whether hell run for president in 2010. Currently he got a 95% disapproval rating.
