The fourth-largest economy in Asia is electing a president this wednesday.
Lee Myung-Bak is the main favorite, but hes regarded as corrupt. He is a conservative. He is a former manager of the Hyundai company. He was mayor of Seoul. Thus hes though popular. Lee says of himself Korea needs someone as steadfast as him. Thus he became the favourite as the candidate of the "grand national party" in the Korean election. Hed be a change after pro-union Roh. Roh may not be reelected.
Weeklong allegations rained down over Lee. Co0rruption, tax evasion, land-deals, cronyism, even a fraudulent bankruptcy. The conservative Chosun Ilbo discerned a moralistic chaos, in which Korea looses its soul.
The left candidate Chung Dong Young demanded that the candidate has to be not corrupt.
