Principally the AK-47 assault rifles were designated towards the Iraqi security forces. But now, the US government doesnt know their whereabout. The concern is immense that they could have fallen into the hands of insurgents.
The Pentagon is looking for 190 000 assault rifles and colts. They were handed out between 2004 to 2005 to the Iraqi sec forces. But know, nobody knows where they are.
There is fright that the weapons are now in the hands of insurgents who fight US forces in Iraq the Washington Post wrote.
According to a report of the US control institution GAO the US armed forces have no knowledge what happened to about 30% of weapons handed out between 2004 and now. Since 2003 the us spent 19.2bio$ to arm Iraqi sec forces.

The number of weapons that disappeared is very disturbing.The way the US handles its occupation also.
Lieberman was very enthusiastic about spying on AMericans. Just external lines folks. But... wait a minute... phone lines towards Iraq arent coincidentally external also?
Liebermans filtering the complaints in the near future? Or just checking for bad nerves due to Iranian nukes?
