New mosque in Cologne Germany

The evangelical church spoke yesterday for the first time of Cologne as the Muslim capital of Germany. All Muslims organizations built up their centrals in Cologne. And soon a representative mosque in Ehrenfeld shall underline this intention.

The turkish islamic union of the organization for religion (DITIB) has revisited the plans for buildup often. On tuesday in the public hearing the following plans and sizes will be discussed:

* A prayer room in which 2000 believers can pray together.
* An event hall for 1500 people
* Administrative site for the German central of DITIB that moves its seat from Berlin to Cologne.
* office flats and guest-appartments
*Catering, retail shops, serivce sector
*Youth and women center
*Sporting-installations (Squash?)
At the presntation of the plan 2005 the main complex was planned with 4 levels. Now there are planned to be five levels (45 feet).

In the preface of the design competition cerificators (surveyors) examined the effects on traffic - innere kanalstrasse and venloer street - when on friday many hundred people come to prayer. But back then the certificators expected 1200 people. According to current plans there could be many more.
And DITIB is only planning a car park for 137 cars.
Because the bruttolevelarea changed the DITIB was now demanded to reevaluate its traffic prognosis. Administrator Bernd Streitberger: "Theres need for clarification." Hes hopeful the traffic probs will be solved.
